Marbury Free to Sign with Celtics

Marbury's Tainted Rep

On Tuesday, Stephon Marbury's relationship with the Knicks came to an end after an ugly and lengthy divorce. The Boston Celtics appears to be the most likely destination for Marbury. As talented as Marbury is, he has been criticize for causing chemistry problems for his past teams, including when he was teammates with Celtics Kevin Garnett on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Great Addition for the Celtics

There are worries that Marbury may hurt the Celtics team chemistry, but I see him as a perfect addition. The defending champion Celtics have lost quite a bit of bench depth over the past year through free agency and from injuries; Hence, adding a talented point guard would help the team in this regard.

Joining a Veteran TeamLink
The Celtics feel that they can incorporate Marbury smoothly onto their team. The team's leader, Kevin Garnett, have already given the "okay" to playing with Marbury again. The Celtics are a veteran team with other high profile stars in Paul Pierce and Ray Allen that knows how to keep their team focus on the ultimate prize, a championship repeat.

Something to Prove

Marbury has already shown that he is committed to proving that he is not a locker room cancer by giving up 2 million dollars with the Knicks in a buyout agreement to potentially sign a veterans minimum with a championship contender. The man wants to win. With all the bad publicity that clung to Marbury during his stay in New York, I feel that he is at that stage in his career where he must take action to save his legacy now or be forever known as a selfish player.
